ALASKAN - ESSENCES

Many of the flower essences, and essence combinations you will find on this site are Alaskan flower essences, tree, elemental and environmental essences which have been produced by the original co-founder, and co-producer of the Alaskan Flower Essence Project, Shabd-sangeet Khalsa. Contrary to popular beilef, the Alaskan Flower Essence Project came into being about one year after Steve Johnson and Shabd-sangeet Khalsa met in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1983. In 1984 Shabd-sangeet brainstormed with Steve over what name to give the newly budding project they were creating together using her home in Fairbanks as the base for the business for the first eight years of its development.

Shabd-sangeet and Steve found they had common interests when they frst met in 1983. They had each been making flower essences on their own. They had each worked summers at Lake Minchumina just north of Denali, and loved being in the wilderness.

Below is a common view of Denali during the several hours of the Alaskan summer nights when the alpine glow lasts about 4 hours as the transition between evening and morning. Shabd-sangeet and Steve each had a strong connection with, and respect for the powerful forces of nature. They each experienced the cleansing, revitalizing, uplifting, quieting effects that one gains by living in the wilderness. This kind of intimate relationship with nature acted as the inspiration for making their environmental essences.

From Shabd-sangeet's house in the Alaskan birch forest just north of Fairbanks, she can walk out her door and have hundreds of miles of wilderness to walk through, crossing a couple of roads, before reaching an ocean or Canada.

Are you familiar with Birch Tree Deva Oil? It is an aromatherpy and tree essence oil that Shabd-sangeet made in the late 80's. It was inspired by her relationship with the vast circumpolar boreal forests which cover much of Alaska, Canada, and Siberia.
